Phone Call Forwarding & Out of Office Message

Modified on Mon, Aug 8, 2022 at 9:50 AM

Instructions for the AT&T phone system (applies to FMHC and all affiliates as of March 2022)

When in the office / at your desk phone:

To set up call forwarding on your extension, press the Home button on the right side of the phone, then press the Forward icon.  Select when you want calls forwarded (all the time, when there is no answer at your desk phone, or when you are on the other line).  Then, enter the number to which you want calls forwarded, e.g. to your cell phone, starting with the area code (i.e. 2165551234).  Then, press the Enable button.  Calls will now be forwarded as indicated.

To record greetings (i.e. voicemail greeting, introductory greeting, an out of office message, etc.), press the envelope icon in the top-left corner, enter your PIN at the prompt, press 2 for "Account Administration," then 2 to record greetings.  Press 2 again to record your voicemail greeting.

Already at home or off-site?  Forget to set call forwarding when you were still in the office?

Never fear.  You can still set up call forwarding and record greetings remotely.

To remotely access the voicemail system from another phone, call your direct work phone number, then press star ( * ) as soon as the call connects and you hear your voicemail greeting.  You will be prompted to enter your voicemail PIN and # to log into the voicemail system.  Press 1 to listen to your voicemail messages.

Press 2 for "Account Administration," then 2 to record greetings. Press 2 again to record your voicemail greeting.

To set up call forwarding remotely, log into your AT&T Office@Hand account at https://service-officeathand.att.com/ with your work email address.  Select "Call Handling Rules," then add your cell phone number and slide the "Active" switch on for your "mobile" number.  Click the blue Save button at the bottom.

To set up an out-of-office greeting in your Office@Hand account, click "Greeting & Call Screening" as shown in the first screenshot above.  So as not to overwrite your regular business hours greeting that plays when you are in the office, go to the "Call Forwarding and Voicemail" section --> Custom Rules --> Add Rule.

Name your rule (e.g. "Vacation June 2022"), define your conditions (e.g. by date: 6/13/22 to 6/17/22), and Define Call Handling by "Sending to voicemail."  You can record a custom voicemail greeting here that will only play when you are on vacation.

When done, make sure that the "Active" switch on the left, as shown below, is turned on so that the custom rule will take effect.
