You may encounter an issue with viewing PDFs in Nautilus where the document viewer appears as a blank window. Depending on the version of Adobe installed on your computer, you may not experience this issue.
To avoid this issue, simply change this setting in Nautilus as shown below, then click Save. Checking the box to enable this option within the Unity Client will allow you to view the PDF document outside of Nautilus.
As of November 15, 2023, the issue has been resolved globally and this fix should no longer be needed. Contact the Service Desk to report any problems.
Other possible resolutions:
1.) Disabled ‘Enable Security Enhanced’ in the following location:
Adobe | Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced),
Uncheck ‘Enable Enhanced Security’
Uncheck 'Enable Protected Mode at startup'
2.) Set the ‘As Default PDF Handler’ in the following location:
Adobe Reader | Preferences | General | Select As Default PDF Handler
3.) At the Operating System level set Adobe Acrobat as the default application for PDFs.
- Update Default File Types Next open Settings > Apps > Apps and Features and select Default APPS
- Scroll down and select “Choose default apps by file type”
- Then scroll down to the PDF section and set the following to the Adobe Reader
- .pdf > Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
- .pdfxml > Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
- .pdx > Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
4.) If using IE11 Ensure the Adobe Reader plugin is enabled in the following location and is the ONLY reader enabled.
Multiple readers will cause issues.
Internet Explorer | Tools | Manage Add-Ons | Toolbars and Extensions and enable 'Adobe PDF Reader plugin. If you do not see Adobe listed check the Show options. Mine would not appear until "Run without permission" was chosen.
If using Microsoft Edge you will want to run in IE mode:

5.) Some people have reported issues running 64-bit version of Adobe with OnBase.
If the above does not correct your issue and you are on 64-bit version of Adobe. Please try uninstalling the 64-bit version.
