Occasionally, an employee may find that they are unable to print to their main Ricoh MFP. Even though it is installed properly and their print jobs appear to hit the queue, nothing prints out. This may be due to a driver mismatch (the user has drivers for the printer locally on their computer that do not matchthe ones on the print server, causing the issue). To fix, see the steps below from Chris Herbert:
- Add user to Local Admin group
- Remove printer
- Restart Print Spooler service to release any jobs or drivers
- Delete printer from registry: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers (find printer and delete)
- Delete driver from registry: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Driver\(select version) For example, remove version 4
- Delete driver from driver store: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository (You must know which folder to delete [locate the specific .inf driver name] and you must take ownership of folder [Properties --> Security --> Advanced] in order to delete)
- Restart Print Spooler service
- Download Universal Print Driver from either the print server (WLKWPrtSvr01) or from manufacturer's website
- Open Print Management console and install driver
- Add printer and test printing
If all steps were done properly, you should have completed the printing connection. Remove the user from Local Admin group.
