KeePass is a free app available to all employees that helps manage and store passwords.
When you open KeePass for the very first time, set up a new database (File --> New) and save it to your U:/ drive*. You can secure your KeePass password database with a "master password" that you will need to enter each time you open the program to access your password list.
*Departments that use passwords for shared accounts can set up a new password database and save it in your department's G:/ drive directory for access by multiple employees.
Click the "key" icon in the top-left corner to add a new entry.
Title = name of the program/system you use
Enter your existing user name and password. If this is a new system for which you do not yet have a password set up, KeePass can generate a secure password for you to use (see pre-populated dots in the password field).
If desired and applicable, enter the URL (website link/address) for the site where you log into this specific system, and add any related notes you would like associated with this entry (e.g. for Cleartouch, you can enter your teller number here).
Press OK. The entry will now be listed in your password database. Make sure you Save so you do not lose any changes.
From the main screen, you can double-click directly on any user name or the asterisks representing your password to copy either credential for 12 seconds. Once copied, you can paste in the credentials into the appropriate login field on the app or website you are logging into. Double-clicking on the URL will open that website link in your default browser.
While KeePass is currently part of IT's standard image, some older computers may not have it installed. If you do not see KeePass in your Start menu, please contact the Service Desk to request that it be installed on your computer.
